Pre-bid and Post-bid are designed to be run together. Pre-bid provides live decisions — bas on which you can bid or skip — for every request, and Post-bid analyzes what actually happened after the impression rendered. Each one is useful on its own. They are much better together.

Post-bid findings inform how we retrain Pre-bid’s prediction model. Unified ecosystem is what keeps Pre-bid accurate against the threats your specific traffic mix is exposed to.

A combined integration has four pieces.

Pre-bid prediction

For every bid request, your bidder queries the local Pre-bid binary and gets back a prediction, band, and supporting signals. Your bidder uses the response to decide whether to bid.

Post-bid detection tag

For every impression you win and serve, a detection tag fires alongside the ad and reports a richer set of signals back to Pinokio.

Impression Sync

Optional but recommended. A server-to-server postback that fires whenever the tag should have loaded — so we can detect when fraudsters strip the tag.

Ad Quality

Optional but recommended. An API to check creatives and ad placements to ensure they are brand safe and malvertising free.

Pinokio aggregates Post-bid findings into a reputation database that updates Pre-bid’s model. Specifically:

  • The Pre-bid model is retrained on Post-bid data every 2 hours, so high-fidelity Post-bid signals propagate back into live decisioning within hours rather than days.
  • Pre-bid can let a very small slice of traffic through deliberately so Post-bid can verify the predictions.

Pre-bid and Post-bid do not share data automatically. You link them by passing Transaction ID identifier from the Pre-bid into the Post-bid detection tag and into Impression Sync postbacks.
