Detection Tags
Pinokio Post-bid uses detection tags to collect the signals that power its analysis. A detection tag is a short piece of code — JavaScript or a tracking pixel — that runs at the same time as the ad impression. While the user sees the ad, the tag quietly collects environment data and sends it to Pinokio.
There is no single tag that works everywhere. The right type depends on the ad format and the environment. See Tag Types & Environments for the matrix we recommend.
How tags are served
Section titled “How tags are served”Each tag is generated for a specific customer and environment. You serve it from your ad server alongside the ad creative — your Pinokio account manager will provide the exact tag URL based on your needs.
The important rule: the tag must render in the same context as the ad. If the ad is inside an iframe, the tag goes inside the same iframe. If the ad is served via VAST in a player, the tag goes there as well. Serving the tag outside the ad’s context strips out the signals that come from user interaction with the ad — which is exactly the data we need to detect sophisticated bots.
Tagging coverage
Section titled “Tagging coverage”Based on your volumes and current traffic mix we will help you to find the right sampling rate and rules.
